Samsung has filed for a patent describing a smartphone similar to the Z Flip. Its particularity is to have a foldable screen in both directions, but also to embed a fingerprint sensor under the slab.

n phones right now, especially with the Z Fold and Z Flip. The Z Flip, in fact, could change its format in its next iterations. In any case, this is what a new patent filed by the Korean brand suggests.
Filed in October 2020, this patent was finally published yesterday April 15. It is very interesting, because it describes a terminal more than credible. At first glance, the document product looks like a classic Z Flip. In reality, it is very different, starting with its screen.
A Z FLIP THAT BENDS OVER BACKWARDS
Indeed, this screen can bend in either direction. So you can close it entirely like a flip phone, open it for an extended display, or even fold it the other way around. Thus, you will have a display on two sides. The thing may seem interesting on paper, however, it will be necessary to see what it gives in hand.
A double camera would be directly integrated into the panel via a punch. As the documentation explains, it is impossible to integrate a flash in this format. To overcome this problem, Samsung would use the screen light. Finally, the icing on the cake would be the presence of a fingerprint sensor under the display. It would be the first foldable smartphone to benefit from it. An appreciable and credible novelty.
As usual, the Dutch site LetsGoDigital seized the product to imagine it in 3D renderings. As you can see, it almost feels like you are seeing a Z Flip. It remains to be seen whether the next iteration of the Korean brand's foldable smartphone will pick up on these ideas, but in any case, the filed patent indicates that Samsung is thinking about it, whether for this product or another. As a reminder, the Z Flip 2 should be presented in the coming months and should be called… the Z Flip 3 in order to fit on the Fold. A first leak gave us a glimpse of its technical sheet, but it must of course be taken with great caution.
