It is the latest camera model of Nikon's Z family, with which it plans to attack the entry market into the mirrorless world. Indeed, the new camera features a 24.3MP full format CMOS sensor. As a processor it has an Integrated Expeed 6 chip, just like the Z6. These are encapsulated in a metal skeleton body and polycarbonate coating.
However, it has resistance to dust and moisture as the bodies of higher ranges. Its design has also been modified and simplified to be more intuitive for the photographer, although the top display appears to be an attribute that was again acclaimed, so the lack of this can detract from the mirrorless. Its input is for Z-mount lenses.
With a size similar to that of the Nikon Z6 and the same 675 grams in weight, Nikon offers us a compact and pleasant entry mirrorless for the photographer who is just starting out in this world. At the back it has a 3.2-inch touch screen and has an OLED viewfinder of 3.69 million points. For storage it has dual SD slot compatible with SD, SDHC and SDXC UHS-II.
The battery uses a new type (EN-EL15C) that gives it much higher performance, however it is also compatible with MB-N10, although these have less autonomy. At the fixed level, you can create captures in NEF format with a maximum depth of 14 bits and dimensions of 6010 x 4016 pixels. On video you can record in . MOV and . MP4 in H.264 to 4K codec up to 30 FPS, and FHD 1080P at 60 FPS. It features USB Type-C and HDMI Type-C connectivity, as well as audio input and output for video.
It also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for transferring files from device to mobile, preview and remote handling. As for its cost and availability, the new Nikon is already on sale at major distributors, starting at 1,949 euros.
