Mate X2

Huawei would present the Mate X2, its third smartphone with a foldable screen, by the end of February 2021. Despite US sanctions, the Chinese group has reportedly developed a whole new design of a foldable device. This time, the central hinge would be very different from the one developed by Samsung

Indeed, the foldable smartphone was expected on the market at the end of the second half of 2020 . The first tests were already underway at the end of 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions decreed by Washington have visibly forced Huawei to delay the launch.

A MATE X2 WITH A NEW DESIGN

Still according to the leaker, the Mate X2 would benefit from a brand new foldable screen design that folds inward. As a reminder, the Mate X and the Mate Xs bent outwards. The informant adds that the central hinge is very different from that used by Samsung on the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.

According to the information already available on the Mate X2 , Huawei would bet on a main screen of 8.01 ″ diagonal and will offer a definition of 2270 x 1160 pixels. A smaller secondary screen of 6.45 ″ (2270 x 1160 pixels) and dedicated to contextual information (notifications, messages, battery, etc.) will allow you to use the smartphone once the screen is folded.

Unsurprisingly, the foldable smartphone would be powered by the latest Kirin 9000 chip , the chipset engraved in 5nm that we already find in the Mate 40/40 Pro. The autonomy would be entrusted to a battery of 4400 mAh.

Finally, the Mate X2 would be equipped with a quadruple photo sensor on the back. The leaks rely on a main 50-megapixel photo sensor, as on the future P50s. On the front, Huawei would bet on a 16-megapixel front camera. We'll tell you more about the Mate X2 as soon as possible.
