Telegram, which this week added up to eight new features, has announced the launch of group video calls in May, a new feature that will enable it to work similarly to other multi-video conferencing apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and others.
Telegram group video calls will allow simultaneous communication between several participants, although Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, who has advanced the news of the launch, has not specified the total number of people who will be able to attend. So far, the messaging app can only make video calls between two single parties.
When the new Telegram group video calls are released, they will include features such as the ability to share the screen of one of the users with the rest of the group, allowing them to see a presentation or other material that you want to show them.
Telegram would also have a noise cancellation feature to prevent background noise from interfering with communication, as well as the ability to muffle the microphones of all participants in a video call.
Telegram has also announced that video calls will be encrypted, a feature that the messaging network already employs in other communications to protect users' privacy.
This latest community video calling feature would arrive almost a year after Telegram announced it in March 2020, when the population confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic became widespread.
Despite the fact that its conventional rivals are instant messaging applications like WhatsApp or Messenger, Telegram will add a more professional use of this new feature, similar to other apps like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
