Huawei Mate X2

Mate X2 is a smartphone with which the company aims directly at the top of the flexible smartphone market, where it competes directly with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series.

In terms of design, the Huawei Mate X2 maintains a conservative approach, although it introduces a significant change from the previous model of the previous generation, the Huawei Xs, because it adopts the concept of dual screen that we saw precisely in the Samsung Galaxy Fold series.

This means that the new Huawei comes with an outer screen that allows it to be used as a 'traditional' smartphone, and another flexible inner screen, which when opened, offers a similar experience to what we would have with a small Tablet.

Both screens have very reduced edges, although only the smaller screen incorporates an oval island to accommodate the front camera, which is 16MP. User experience is no mystery: when closed it is a smartphone, and when open it becomes a tablet.

On the inner screen, Huawei has incorporated the industry's first “magnetically controlled nano-optical layer”. What does this mean for the user? Quite simply, this technology reduces light reflection and minimizes glare, which is especially useful when used outdoors. However, this screen is not protected by ultra-thin glass, which means that you will have to be very careful when using it.

Continuing with the interior screen, which is the most interesting of the Huawei Mate X2 for its flexibility, we find a compact hinge that does not leave the slightest space, that is to say that when the phone is closed, it is completely flat, as can be seen in the attached image. According to Huawei, the internal OLED panel (both displays are OLED type), is teardrop-shaped to minimize wrinkles, and materials such as carbon fiber and zirconium-based liquid metal have been used in the hinge. to reduce weight.

In terms of build quality, the Huawei Mate X2 is made of aluminum (frame) and glass, both on the front and back, but not on the inner display due to the obvious limitations imposed by a flexible screen. At the back it mounts an island that houses a four-camera setup, and to the side is the fingerprint reader. After this first general overview, we are ready to go over its main features.
