Oppo looks set to smash all of its previous records. According to the Counterpoint Research institute , the manufacturer would indeed have passed Huawei in China in January 2021. A trend that may well continue in the months to come, even more with the imminent launch of the Find X3 series. For the first time in its history, the manufacturer has indeed managed to overtake its biggest rival in the Chinese market, namely Huawei.
Oppo overtook Huawei in China in January 2021
According to the institute, therefore, Oppo would have reached in January the 21% market share in China, against 20% for Vivo and 16% for Huawei, which is tied with Apple and Xiaomi.
But the most impressive finally comes from the evolution curve of the manufacturer. Still according to the same source, Oppo would have seen a growth of 33% in the space of just one month, and of 26% compared to the previous year.
According to Varun Mishra, an analyst at Counterpoint Research, this success could be explained mainly by the success of the Reno 5 range, more accessible than the previous models, but also by the enthusiastic reception of Chinese consumers for the brand's latest flagships.
the Top 3 in three years
So, of course, the situation is very complicated. Huawei suffers greatly from the decree taken by Donald Trump, a decree which now prohibits it from marketing smartphones with Google's services and applications. A decree which also forced him to separate from his subsidiary Honor, a subsidiary which was very successful in China.
It should also be noted that this growth is not limited to China. Oppo now occupies 4th place on the podium dedicated to the largest manufacturers of smartphones and the brand is also very successful on the old continent, where it also intends to continue its investments.
As she told us last week through a press release, she also aims to clinch third place within three years. And there is no doubt that the Find X3 will have a role to play. Find X3s that will be unveiled to the world on March 11 at 12:30 p.m. sharp.
