Huawei P50

Huawei is apparently about to introduce its new series of flagship smartphones based on the so-called Huawei P50. According to a mostly well-informed source, the launch should take place towards the end of March and three models are expected.

As the Finnish Twitter user Rodent950 , also known as Teme, who has often provided accurate information about Huawei's smartphone plans, now reports, the new Huawei P50 series will be launched on the last weekend in March. A launch at the end of March would coincide with the usual pattern for Huawei's product launches.

Design is done, launch in just over a month

As Teme further explained, three models are planned: the Huawei P50, the Huawei P50 and the Huawei P50 Pro +. Allegedly, the design of the new top smartphones should now be completed. The start of mass production is now possible, although the short period between the end of the design phase and the official launch is very surprising.

According to the information, Huawei wants to pursue a two-pronged strategy for the SoCs of the P50 series smartphones. While the two top models P50 Pro and P50 Pro + supposedly have the Kirin 9000 Octacore SoC known from the Huawei Mate 40 on board, the "normal" Huawei P50 probably contains a chip called the Kirin 9000E.

This could be a slower version of the top SoC from Huawei, which is basically identical, but uses lower clock rates. This would enable Huawei to use more chips from TSMCs in the meantime as a result of the US embargo of discontinued production by proceeding more tolerantly with binning and simply using chips that do not achieve the absolute performance peaks as slower-clocked versions.

In addition to the Kirin chips, Huawei allegedly uses OLED panels from LG and Samsung in its P50 series smartphones, while the Chinese supplier BOE also supplies displays. Huawei allegedly wants to advertise the high image quality, a revised camera system and gaming features for the P50 smartphones.
