Qualcomm

Qualcomm currently offers various ARM processors for laptops running Windows and Chrome OS. Indeed, we find the Snapdragon 7c, but also the high-end model 8c. the American giant is said to be developing a successor for the Snapdragon 7c, whose code name would be SC7295 .

According to WinFuture, it could be a derivative of the Snapdragon SM7350G which we know for the moment under the name of Snapdragon 775G. This processor is expected to equip mid-range smartphones in 2021, and it is expected that it will be unveiled at the same time as Xiaomi's Mi 11 Lite .

WHAT CHARACTERISTICS FOR THE NEW SNAPDRAGON 7C?

Qualcomm's SC7295 would have 8 cores , including 4 “gold” cores. The most powerful core would operate at 2.7 GHz . It would be supported by 3 cores at 2.4 GHz and by 4 cores with low power consumption at 1.8 GHz to ensure long battery life during light tasks.

As this is a mid-range processor, the computers it will equip are expected to offer good value for money , but without achieving the impressive performance of Apple's new Mac M1s. For now, Qualcomm's best performing chips are the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. We imagine that Qualcomm could name the SC7295 Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 if it decides to follow the same logic as with its big brother.

For its part, Samsung would soon launch a Windows 10 laptop PC with an Exynos 2200 SoC and an AMD GPU . It will therefore not be easy for Qualcomm to compete with such a machine. However, Qualcomm is reportedly preparing an Apple M1 competitor for Windows PCs , the SC8280. The latter could in particular embed twice as much RAM as the Apple M1. We hope that Qualcomm and Samsung will soon unveil chips that can finally align with that of Apple, in order to restore the image of Windows ARM PCs .
